In recent years, insoluble cyclodextrin (CD) polymers have gathered attention as a water purification tool can deal with micropollutants. However, in most cases, CD polymers are β-CD polymers prepared from β-CD by multi-step synthesis using expensive reagents1). For example, Yang et al. reported that the β-CD polymer prepared by them was less effective to absorb smaller pollutants such as C4 backbone2). In this study, we synthesized insoluble CD polymers having two types (β- and α-) of CDs by facile method using monochlorotriazinyl-β-CD (MCT-β-CD) and natura α-CD to absorb small pollutants effectively. The CD polymers having β-CD showed better absorption ability to iodine (I2) and iodide ion (I-) than activated carbon. |
