Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) and R-α-lipoic acid (RALA) are essential components for maintaining mitochondrial functions. However, the absorbability of these compounds when taken orally has been problems, since CoQ10 is poorly water-soluble, and RALA is unstable under acidic condition. Therefore, both CoQ10 and RALA were complexed with γ-cyclodextrin (γ-CD) to solve these problems. As results, the stability of RALA in simulated gastric fluid of the CoQ10/RALA/γ- CD complex showed a high residual rate, and the solubility of CoQ10 in fed state simulated intestinal fluid of the complex showed significantly high CoQ10 concentration. |
