It has been reported that Maslinic acid is a potential ingredient to relieve joint pain, improve muscle strength, anti-fatigue, and reduce muscle pain. However, the bioavailability of Maslinic acid is very low due to its poor solubility in water as well as any other triterpenes. In this study, we prepared α-, β- and γ-cyclodextrin (CD) complexes of olive fruit extract containing Maslinic acid and evaluated their solubilities in water and in fed state simulated intestinal fluid (FeSSIF). Higher solubilities of Maslinic acid in water were observed by complexation with β-CD or γ-CD than α-CD. Furthermore, the highest solubility of Maslinic acid in FeSSIF was observed with γ-CD. |
