Small dense LDL (sdLDL), but not LDL-cholesterol, is recently thought as a real sensitive risk marker for arteriosclerosis. Flaxseed oil (FO) or α-CD has been reported to reduce sdLDL, but their combined effects have not yet been clarified. In the previous study, we found that blood sdLDL cholesterol (sdLDL-C) level in diabetes-induced dyslipidemia model mice was reduced by flaxseed oil-α-cyclodextrin complex (FO-α-CD). In this study, we evaluated the factors associated with lowering effect of FO-α-CD on sdLDL-C level. As a result, we found that TG-rich VLDL was reduced by FO-α-CD which could be associated with sdLDL-C reduction and Bacteroides which was negatively correlated with sdLDL-C. |
