| 論文概要(英文) | In recent years, there has been concern among young women about not only lack of physical strength but also “hidden obesity,” in which body fat percentage is high even though BMI is within the normal range. Since these conditions increase various risks such as sarcopenic obesity and lifestyle-related diseases, supplements are very helpful to reduce them. Gamma-cyclodextrin (γ-CD), which is widely used in food products, is a digestible carbohydrate with property that suppress blood glucose elevation. We have reported that long-term feeding of γ-CD led to an increased endurance in mice study. But there is no evidence from clinical trials regarding its health benefits. In the present study, we conducted a placebo-controlled, randomized, single-blind, parallel-group comparative study to investigate whether γ-CD supplementation could affect exercise performance, exercise-induced fatigue, body composition and gut microbiota in healthy young Japanese women who are not athletes. Fourteen participants were randomly assigned to either γ-CD group or maltodextrin group as a placebo group. Each supplement was taken at 6 grams per day with lunch for 8 weeks. |
