論文概要（和文）	マヌカハニーはニュージーランドに自生するフトモモ科植物“マヌカ”（Leptospermum scoparium）の花を蜜源として得られる蜂蜜である。この蜂蜜中には抗菌物質メチルグリオキサール（MGO）が高濃度で含有されており、これまでの研究結果として、Helicobacter pyloriやStreptococcus mutansなどといった各種病原性細菌に対して、他の蜂蜜にはない強い抗菌活性を示すことが報告されている。
論文概要（英文）	Manuka honey is produced by bees which gather nectar from the Manuka bush (Leptospermum scoparium), one of the indigenous New Zealand Myrtaceae. It contains anti-bacterial compound, Methylglyoxal (MGO) at high concentration and research results have shown that it possesses strong antibacterial activity which no other honeys possess against pathogens like Helicobacter pylori or Streptococcus mutans.
